The Importance of Focusing on the Present

First off, let me apologize about the lack of posts. I meant to post on Friday, then Saturday, then Sunday… Honestly, I didn’t really know what to post about. I have a notebook full of ideas, but for some reason, none of them were interesting enough for me to write a post. So I’ve spent almost a week looking for a subject (and time… and energy) to write about.

Then it came to me. I had in mind to talk about this for a while, so why not now? This post is going to be about some thoughts that I’ve been having lately about how we keep thinking about the future without living the present. Are you lost? Keep reading.

The Importance of Focusing on the Present

A couple of days after New Year’s I went grocery shopping and right after entering Wal-Mart my mouth opened wide open. We didn’t even take off the Christmas decorations but there were already gifts, chocolates and huge teddy bears for Valentine’s celebrations!

I don’t know if you’ve realized, but we go from one holiday to the next one, from one season to the next one and so on. We start to see summer clothes in shops during winter, and winter clothes during summer. Right after Christmas we start thinking about Valentine’s day and on the 15th of February we start thinking about Easter. Labor Weekend, 4th of July, Memorial Weekend, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and start again.

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired just thinking about it. It looks like a marathon!

Why don’t we just take a break every once in a while to just live the moment? I’m not a fan of winter, cold and having to wear so many clothes, but I’m trying to enjoy the time that we’re in. So bring on all the colorful scarves, gloves and hats!!! Haha

If we keep thinking about the next thing coming up in our lives there will come a day when we look back and realize that we spent all the time we had waiting for something to happen.

“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.” – Mother Teresa

So, tell me. What are your thoughts on this?

    • I think everyone looks back at a certain point in their lives, even if it’s when they are old. What’s sad is that we only think about the future without caring about the present
